Energy data and software company Advanced Infrastructure are delighted to announce they have been awarded Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, providing reassurance to clients that their data is protected.
The UK Government program, delivered via the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Cyber Essentials helps businesses protect customers and partners from cyber-attacks.
The programme is split into two tiers (Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus), of which Advanced Infrastructure have been successful in achieving both, following an in-depth technical I.T security audit.
Cyber Essentials Plus is accredited against five essential technical controls: firewall configuration and deployment, device and software configuration, user access control, malware protection and device and software updates.
According to the Department for digital, culture, media and sport (CDMS), in the last 12 months 39% of UK businesses identified a cyber-attack, with 83% of these businesses reporting phishing attempts, and 26% identifying a more sophisticated attack type such as a denial of service, malware or ransomware attack.
Whilst these numbers are staggeringly high, only 8% of all UK businesses have attained a Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
As cyber threats increase, many Government contracts which involve handling sensitive and personal information or the provision of certain technical products and services, now require a Cyber Essentials Certification.
